How ignorant can a person be if he saw and then said that a Hyundai Matrix with a Pininfarina logo/badge is an attempt by the owner to "pretend" that his car is a Ferrari??

That's what one of my friend said when we were walking past a Hyundai Matrix. I forgot who but it's either one of two. One likes sports sedan like STIs and Evos while the other likes posh cars. Judging by the level of ignorance I'll assume it's the former.

So what the hell is wrong with the statement you might ask?

Well it is not wrong to associate Pininfarina with Ferrari. In fact they are a car design firm that design most of the Ferrari's in the past and current models too. In additions to designing Ferrari's they also design other cars from Maserati Gran Turismo to Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet. They also happen to design the Hyundai Matrix mentioned above. The Pininfarina badge on the car marks as the designer's signature on the car; much like an artist putting his signature on his painting.

Thus drawing such conclusion that Hyundai Matrix owner wants to 'pretend' his car as a Ferrari based on the fact that Pininfarina is associated with Ferrari and that it sounds Italian is definitely a big "NO! NO!". If any conclusions are to be made there should be something to be based upon. Doing research before concluding saves us from embarrassment.
